Ray's friends tell him that he has the perfect marriage, but he misses being single. So when Robert asks to cover for him at work, Ray lies and tells Robert he has to take care of an emergency for his mother, and he goes to a bar. When Debra finds out what Ray did she switches the story to make it look like Ray lied to spend time with her. But when Debra gets home from a day of shopping, she catches on that there is more to the story This episode is about Ray and Robert, who are friends and colleagues in their own plumbing company. At one point, when they were supposed to go karting with their friends, Raymond tells Robert that he has to work at a nearby shopping center. After hearing that Robert decides to work extra hours in the police and accidentally gets gored by a bull. He is injured and asks his parents to move back home.
Ray Charles and Debra are back together, as is Ray's father and Frank. Frank has a new friend who is single and he begins to be very interested in her. Robert gets injured at work, but his new girlfriend is more of a hindrance than a help. Marie installs a new water softener. Ray's father, Frank Barone comes to stay with them after an injury. Ray needs to keep him and his mother apart after a blow-up at Christmas, which he does by being a greeter at the local grocery store. A comedy revolving around a group of teenage friends, their mishaps, and their coming of age, set in 1970s Wisconsin. It's real laughter over "getting it right" that they couldn't stop. "Ray Barone seemingly has it all. A wonderful wife, a beautiful family, a great job and a nice house on Long Island. While Ray does have a brother, who annoys him at every turn, he is still a likable guy overall."
